THE ROLE

As a Vehicle Mechanic at Premier Tyres Spondon, you’ll diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs across a varied range of cars and light commercial vehicles.
This is a hands-on position for an experienced mechanic who is comfortable completing everyday maintenance as well as more involved engine and transmission work. You’ll be trusted to identify problems accurately, recommend the correct repairs and complete every job to a high professional standard.
Your work will include:
• Diagnosing mechanical and engine faults
• Timing-chain replacements
• Wet-belt replacements
• Clutch replacements
• Routine servicing and maintenance
• General mechanical repairs
• Working on different vehicle makes and models
You’ll become part of a busy, growing garage with the opportunity to expand your technical knowledge and develop your skills across a wider range of vehicle repairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the Premier Tyres Spondon team, you’ll be responsible for completing diagnostic, maintenance and repair work accurately, efficiently and safely.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Inspecting vehicles and accurately diagnosing mechanical and engine faults
• Completing servicing, maintenance and general mechanical repairs
• Carrying out timing-chain, wet-belt and clutch replacements
• Identifying additional faults and explaining the required repairs clearly
• Following manufacturer specifications and recommended repair procedures
• Using diagnostic equipment, workshop tools and machinery safely
• Checking completed work to ensure it meets a high professional standard
• Keeping accurate records of inspections, repairs and parts used
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
• Working effectively with the wider team to keep jobs progressing through the workshop
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a reliable and capable mechanic who can confidently diagnose faults, complete repairs and take pride in the quality of their work.
The successful candidate should have:
• At least three years of professional vehicle-mechanic experience
• Strong mechanical and engine diagnostic skills
• Experience completing timing-chain, wet-belt and clutch replacements
• A good understanding of vehicle servicing, maintenance and general repairs
• Confidence using diagnostic equipment and workshop tools
• The ability to work accurately without constant supervision
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safe working practices
• Good problem-solving and time-management skills
• A willingness to continue learning and developing their technical knowledge
• A reliable, professional and team-focused approach

WORKING HOURS
A Consistent Working Schedule
This is a full-time position based at our garage in Spondon, Derby.
Your normal working hours will be:
• Monday to Friday: 8:00am–5:00pm
• Saturday: 8:00am–1:00pm
• Sunday: Closed
You’ll have consistent daytime working hours with no Sunday shifts.

This position is based at Premier Tyres Spondon, our independent garage conveniently located in Spondon, Derby.
